This Crazy Life

New Image Art is pleased to present, This Crazy Life, a group show featuring Gregory Bojorquez, Patrick Martinez, and Michael Vasquez, opening Saturday, April  26, 2014, 7-10pm.

This Crazy Life encompasses the poetic commonalities found in today's urban/inner city environments. The works depict an authentic viewpoint of "beauty through chaos" that seems so natural within the backdrop of urban struggle and growth. By interpreting their own personal realities through forms of portrait based photography, paint, and mixed media, these three artist are able to inform and contribute to a larger social understanding of urban culture through their contextual relationship with art.

Vintage California

Go to a real California swap meet or antique show and sure enough you're bound to see them (vintage California fruit crates). Maybe your friend's mom has a few or your grandfather kept some garage junk in one back in the day. Always dug the casual California vibes they imbued.

Build Me Up

Vincent Haycock Casts Three Brothers From Compton for the London Producer’s Stirring New Release

Everything in the video is their real life,” says director Vincent Haycock of the Mays boys, who he cast for this magic realist visual accompaniment to London composer and producer Raffertie’s new track “Build Me Up,” after meeting the youngest brother Demantre while location scouting in South Central, Los Angeles. “Every cast member is their friend, son, or cousin, and all the locations are their houses and neighborhood,” explained the filmmaker. “Most of the scenes were based on what they wanted to do as opposed to me giving them too much direction. The only thing I made up was the idea of death—all the brothers are alive and well.”
