RECAP // JOHANNA OLK LA TATTOO DAY

While in Los Angeles for her solo exhibition // IDLE YOUTH // Johanna was able to fit in some tattoo appointments. All work was done with stick & poke method and very limited due to time and availability. Johanna set up shop in the gallery space over the weekend and managed to get about 10 tattoos done in all. Thanks to all that came out and got some ink and many thanks to Justin Gaar for taking pics.

Innocnts returns to Shepard Fairey’s Subliminal Projects in Echo Park to curate the second edition of WE ARE THE ROMANTIC ONES, a Saint Valentine’s Day group exhibition including emotive driven painting, photography, drawing, sculpture, and installation. Last year’s one-night-only exhibition was greeted by warm crowds and goods vibes. A collection of long stem roses was available to any gal in attendance and Innocnts bootlegged some red wine from a Trader Joe’s truck to set the mood right. It was such a successful night that Subliminal Projects offered Innocnts another go this year. This time around the exhibition will run for 3 weeks from February 14th through March 3rd. The opening reception on Saint Valentine’s Night will include a special intimate Hip-Hop performance about a girlfriend by Kapeesh and select oldies vinyl by Jordan Blackmon (Toro Y Moi guitarist). Join us at Subliminal Projects Wednesday, February 14th from 7pm to 10pm as we kick off the opening reception.

About Innocnts: INNOCNTS is a lifestyle-based project that manifests itself through various means including art curation, happenings, brand collaborations, and surf/skate related media. We are a mixed grouping of lesser knowns from various local and international environs attempting to carve out a genuine path of our own. Based in Los Angeles, INNOCNTS started as an art gallery in Silver Lake and has gradually grown into a larger movement of friends and like minded individuals. INNOCNTS has strong connections to art, surf, and skate communities and continues to present authentic projects and persons doing things their own way.

NEW WORK : OHAD SARFATY

Ohad used to wrench on his van and print our shirts in LA some years back. But that was never really all he was about. Sure his dog Beans rules the Instagram but Ohad is more than just a wrencher with a cool dog. Dude can paint far better than most so it was no surprise RISD excepted him into their MFA program a year ago. He's been doing the East Coast thing since but judging by his new work, the experience is serving him well. Have a look below.

Innocnts x Globe // Recap Video

A nice little recap video from our Innocnts x Globe party at General Admission in Venice a few weeks back. A nice look at the crowd and vibes from another successful Innocnts gathering. Good thing our friend Ryan Hackbarth videoed the evening cause we were too busy drinking the free King Harbor beer on tap. Ryan mixed the video up with tunes by DIVOLA or played so well the opening night that the cops decided to show up.

June 2017 we officially launched our collaboration with GLOBE at General Admission in Venice, CA. King Harbor beer was flowing like the salmon of Capistrano, latin beats by Alf Alpha enticed the crowd to shake it and the building almost came down when Divola performed. The cops even payed a visit and might have had something to do with our premature finish. Regardless we had a blast and appreciate those that made it out! Video/Edit by Ryan Hackbarth

New Works By Aaron Elvis Jupin

Some compelling new paintings by Aaron Elvis Jupin. Really diggin the light-handed use of airbush that has been entering the more recent works with added elements like shadows, reflections, and smoke. Always dig the suggestive quality of his work that is conveyed through the comic-like depictions and clever titles.
