Maddison Kellie AKA Lady Mustard // Opening Recap

Our main girl on the scene in Australia photographer Maddison Kellie, also known in some socialite circles as Lady Mustard, recently had a swinging exhibition in Coolangatta this past weekend with all sorts of legends in attendance. Though the California Innocnts contingent couldn't make the trip, the Aussie crew did just fine. Here's some pics from the evening. The exhibition remains up till March 11th at Maverick Hair And Art Space, First Floor, 1/17 Griffith Street, Coolangatta QLD 4225, Australia

Bryan Yazzie At Space 15 Twenty

Longtime Innocnts advocate Bryan Yazzie recently had a killer opening at Space 15 Twenty. Bryan has worked for Urban Outfitters for some years now as a hired assassin display artist. Basically all the UO special projects her in Los Angeles are built by Bryan. They hooked him up with the exhibition space at the Hollywood location and set him loose. What ensued was great use of the space utilizing a hand-welded LED light based installation that when synced with the proper band (Terminal A) and fog machine, created quite the emotive environment. The exhibit, which also includes other goods handmade by Bryan, remains up for another couple weeks with very random hours.

Recap : We Are The Romantic Ones

We came, we loved, we conquered. This past Saint Valentine's Day we curated a group exhibition of emotive art from some of our favorite people. It was a last minute show only confirmed just days prior to it's opening and hung the day of. And as ephemeral as LA graffiti, it was gone the next day. Just a one night exhibition graciously hosted by Shepard Fairey's gallery Subliminal Projects in Echo Park, California. Many thanks to our dudes Alf Alpha and Kapeesh for providing the timely sonic vibes. Much appreciation to Pabst Blue Ribbon for always supporting our shows. And huge shout to all that could make the opening and support what we do. It was an exceptional night even though all of us went home alone. Till next time!

Conversation w/ Henry Fey

I met artist Henry Fey about two years ago while visiting a friend in San Francisco. The two had gone to school together (SFAI) for about a year or so at the time, and we were introduced one night at an opening at Book & Job gallery. The night went on after the show and we consumed quite a few adult sodas, talked the art talk, shot some pool, and I've been glad to call him a friend since. A few weeks ago I had the chance to shoot a few texts back and forth with him and ask him a few questions about his work.

You can check out some more of Henry's work on Instagram at @djslowdance or on his website here.

John Altoon At Kohn Gallery

Pictures from the John Altoon (1925 - 1969) exhibition that just finished up at Kohn Gallery. Altoon is one of our favorites from the Ferus gang.
